Bill Gates is among the richest men of our time. The CEO of Microsoft was listed as the fourth richest man in the world in 2021. According to Forbes, Bill Gates had a staggering net worth of $112 billion in 2021. However, the founder of Microsoft has decided to give out his money. Once he completely pledges his wealth, Bill Gates will eventually fall off the world’s richest men list. According to some reports, his plan of dropping from the world’s richest men list has already started to work out.
According to a recent report from Bloomberg Index, the founder of Microsoft has ‘started pledging’ his money. The report suggests that Bill Gates has fallen to fifth after giving a percentage of his net worth. Starting this year, his net worth has already fallen to $26 billion. Since he had a staggering net worth of $112 billion in 2021, his fortune slips down enormously in 2022. It is essential to note here that this fortune loss of Bill Gates is not because of a business loss. In fact, Microsoft is doing great, and has generated sizeable revenues in the current years.
Instead, Bill Gates has intentionally dropped off the list of the world’s richest men. In a Tweet that still circulates on social media platforms, Bill confirmed that he will give “all of (his) fortune to the foundation.” Here, he refers to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that he had found with his ex-wife, Melinda.
Eventually, Bill Gates will fall off the world’s richest men list. Moving forward, the founder of Microsoft asserted that he would “virtually” donate all of his wealth to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. “Eventually, I will fall off the list of the richest men,” he concluded.
A Vast Majority of Bill Gate’s Fortune Goes to Charities
Since Bill Gates became a billionaire, a percentage of his wealth has been donated to charities. Perhaps the greatest of his anthropological works is the foundation of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Along with his ex-wife, Melinda, Bill founded this charity organization to support underprivileged people across the United States and worldwide.
A report that Forbes published in 2012 suggests that Bill Gates had many anthropological works. The report also suggests that as much as 40% of his net worth goes to charities annually.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation receives donations and charities from other billionaires apart from Microsoft’s CEO. Warren Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, once made a record-making donation to the charity foundation. The Bloomberg Index notes that Warren Buffett donated $38 billion to the foundation. He has also pledged that a 99% of his wealth will be donated to Bill & Melinda Foundation by the end of his life.
