It’s not every day that mere fans like us are given the chance to meet our heroes. So, when one football fan saw an opportunity to meet and even spend a whole day with NFL star Tom Brady, they took it. This came with a hefty price tag though.
Once in a Lifetime Experience
The unnamed fan won the bid for an ‘All-In Experience’ with the iconic quarterback during an auction organized by sports merchandise retailer Fanatics.
They bested 31 other bidders who were willing to splurge tens of thousands of dollars to meet Brady. In the end, the fan came on top after bidding a whopping $800,000 for the once in a lifetime experience.
Bids reportedly began at just $50,000 so you can imagine the exciting back and forth that probably happened until the winning bid was reached.
While spending as much as $800,000 to hangout with your idol seems excessive, the auction was all done for a good cause. Fanatics is set to donate its proceeds to groups like Meals on Wheels, No Kid Hungry, and Feeding America.
The bidder who won can now take three friends to watch Brady’s first game as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and take home two memorabilia in the form of the athlete’s worn jersey and cleats.
More Chances
Other football fans would be pleased to hear that several other auctions featuring more NFL stars are still open. For example, you can bid to get a tour of Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers, with a member of the team.
You’d have to beat the current highest bid of $85,000 to win it though. A slightly more affordable alternative would be bidding to stay at a villa owned by Hall of Famer Joe Montana.
Bids top at $55,000 for now. The winner would get to take five friends for the stay.
Brady’s Recent Moves
Now, going back to the lucky bidder that won a day with Brady. They would certainly be witnessing the start of a new chapter for the athlete’s career.
After spending most of his professional career with the New England Patriots, Brady has moved on to play for another team. He would make his debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2020 NFL season.
The Buccaneers would be facing the Pittsburgh Steelers first in the upcoming preseason games.
