The novel virus has gotten the best of everyone. For the past two years, people have spent their days and nights inside their homes, hoping and wondering when it will end.
Now that approved vaccinations have been rolling out, people are finally stepping out of their shells. This means that you’ll be getting and sending out a few party invitations from here on out.
The Coast is Not so Clear Though
However, the virus’s delta variant still poses a major threat as it is said to be more contagious and life-threatening than the previous variant of the virus. The only way to protect yourself is to continue following the safety precautions like wearing a mask, washing your hands regularly, using hand sanitizer, and getting your vaccines.
A few vaccines have been approved by CDC, such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, and the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. So, if you are still unvaccinated, it is high time that you should get yours asap.
Why is Vaccination Important?
Despite getting the vaccine, you can still contract the virus and become a carrier. This means that you’ll be able to pass it on to someone else. But, if you’ve gotten the vaccine, chances are you may not deal with any symptoms, or even if you do, they will be mild in nature. This makes getting the vaccine a must and the highest priority. But, what about the people who haven’t gotten their vaccine?
Should You Worry About Other People’s Vaccination Status?
If you are planning a get-together where there will be a lot of people, then do not hesitate to request your guest to wear a mask and come only if they are vaccinated. Or, if you are an employer or employee who has resumed working from an office, you have every right to inquire about your colleague’s vaccination status.
Under the light of law and policies, you will not violate any privacy regulation if you ask some about their status, and this is where HIPAA can’t do anything because the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act policies do not stop you from asking even though you are not a healthcare provider nor the insurance company.
What’s The Worst That Could Happen?
The only bad thing that can come from this is a few sour faces and a choice of words from certain guests. But, you should remind yourself that your health is more important than someone willing to risk not only their health but that of other people as well. So, don’t be afraid to ask your uncle if he is vaccinated or not.
